Introduction to Stomach Cancer

Gastric carcinoma: stomach cancer is a cancerous tumor that forms from cells lining the walls of the stomach. This condition has became one of the major health problems worldwide being ranked as number three among those which cause death due to cancer and number five as most prevalent cancer.Formerly known as gastric neoplasia, this condition occurs once malignant cells from within the lining membrane at the innermost part of our organ form.

Though its exact cause cannot be stated for sure, several factors have been identified as putting people at higher risk for developing this type for instance Helicobacter pylori infection, diets high in smoked foods or pickled foods or salted meats smoking, obesity and family history.

Symptoms tend to appear later on when stomach cancer has developed into an advanced stage making early diagnosis problematic.
