Primary Peritoneal Cancer

Introduction to Primary Peritoneal Cancer

Primary peritoneal cancer is a rare and aggressive type of cancer that originates in the lining of the abdominal cavity known as peritoneum. Similar to ovarian cancer, primary peritoneal cancer often presents with vague symptoms in its early stages making it elusive to detect before it becomes advanced over time.

Such may include feeling pain or discomfort in your stomach area, bloating, changes in bowel habits like constipation, diarrhea or both, nausea; vomiting; lack of hunger etc.

Given that these symptoms are non-specific primary peritoneal cancers often present at advanced stages resulting into limited treatment choices and diminished overall prognosis.
